Woman, 7-year-old child fatally shot in double-murder suicide in W. Harris County, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman and her 7-year-old were found shot to death in west Harris County in what officials have confirmed to be a double-murder suicide on Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on social media that deputies responded to the 20000 block of Park Row Drive, describing the situation as "awful."

Deputies arrived at the apartment complex just before 10 a.m. and discovered the 43-year-old woman dead from a gunshot wound, and the child was found in his bedroom, also shot, HCSO said.

Officials also confirm the couple's teenage daughter and her boyfriend were at the home at the time of the shooting.

A man, who police confirmed was the woman's husband, was also injured. He was taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Gonzalez said preliminary info points to the husband being the shooter after a pistol was recovered at the scene.
