THE WOODLANDS, Texas (KTRK) -- One worker died Tuesday afternoon due to an electrical shock along FM 2978, north of Woodlands Parkway in Montgomery County, according to officials.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office called the electrocution an industrial accident.
CenterPoint Energy said it involved a tree trimmer hired by a third party who made contact with an electric infrastructure.
Officials said recovery efforts were paused at about 1:30 p.m. as crews waited for power to be safely shut off. CenterPoint's outage map showed about 1,500 customers were without power around 2 p.m., but the map shows power has since been restored.
"Our hearts go out to all who are affected by the incident this afternoon," CenterPoint said in a statement. "Safety is CenterPoint's top priority, and we urge customers, contractors, and workers to be mindful when working around electric infrastructure and stay at least 10 feet away from power lines and at least 35 feet away from downed power lines or fallen wires."
