MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The allegations made in an arrest warrant obtained by ABC13 are graphic and disturbing. One teen in Montgomery County told investigators she was sexually assaulted, and another said her life was threatened.
Court documents state that on June 16, two 15-year-old girls were sleeping over at a friend's house when they used Snapchat to agree to meet up with 20-year-old Abdula Saleem and drive around the neighborhood.
Chris Seufert with the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office investigates sex crimes, and said while any app can be used to target teens, Snapchat is a common platform he comes across.
"Those disappearing images disappearing messages, make people feel anonymous when in truth they are not," Seufert said.
Records state that the girls got into the car with Saleem, two unidentified males, and Darville Allen, who was 17 at the time.
The arrest warrant states that around 2 a.m., the car was captured on surveillance video pulling into the New Caney ISD football field. Court documents state that everyone got out of the car except one teen and Allen. Records state the girls told police Allen had a gun, and he asked for sex. She told police she felt she couldn't say no or resist because of the weapon. Then, court records say Saleem was called over, and he also had sex with the victim and choked her. Both men are accused of filming the interactions on Snapchat, and investigators say a 'flash' could be seen coming from the car in surveillance video.
Documents state the second teen was not forced to have sex, though Allen is accused of threatening her with a gun.
Court records show the girls were driven back to their friend's house in Kingwood, told an adult what happened, and then went to the hospital.
The MCSO urges parents to monitor their children's social media activity and report any suspicious communications to law enforcement immediately.
Seufert said that while your teen may push back, going through their phone can protect them.
"In a lot of ways, we invite some of the worst people in the world right into our living rooms when we give our kids a device and let them use it unmonitored," Seufert said.
Seufert said you should know what apps your kids use, and never allow them to speak with someone they don't know in real life.
Court records show that the day after the alleged assault, Saleem requested to speak with an officer. Police say he claimed the victim said she was 17 and that the interaction between them was consensual. He was arrested and jailed on a $100,000 bond, which he posted. Allen was arrested by a SWAT team and was jailed on a $150,000 bond. He is still in jail.
The sheriff's office said Allen and Saleem both face charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
